Many Books One Community 2024!

With thanks to the Harry and Grace Moller Endowment and the Nebraska City Community Foundation Fund, the Morton-James Public Library is bringing back “Many Books One Community” in April 2024. Books united on the theme of adventure and sailing have been chosen for reading levels preschool through early teen. The selected books are:

Preschool and Kindergarten category: “Pete the Cat and the Treasure Map” by James Dean

1st through 3rd grade category: “Adventure According to Humphrey” by Betty G. Birney

4th through 8th grade category: “The Wanderer” by Sharon Creech

Homeschool families can register to receive book kits through this online form or by calling the Library at 402-873-5609 and asking for Amanda. Homeschool families will then be contacted when their kits are ready for pick up at the Library.

As part of the Many Books One Community initiative, families can participate in the Community Hamster Hunt starting on May 1st. Participating businesses in Nebraska City will have a picture of a Hamster with a name in their windows and participants can collect Hamster names to turn in to the Library for a prize. A list of Hamster Hunt businesses is included in the book kits that will be distributed to students. Lists can also be picked up at the Library starting on May 1st.
